WELCOME TO OUR FARM AND LOG CABIN RETREATS
Bechan Retreats comprises four luxury lodges situated on our working farm in mid-Wales. Our log cabin retreats are surrounded by rolling pasture and ancient woodland with gorgeous views over the valley and Bechan Brook. They are in a perfect peaceful spot for a calm and relaxing break.
We pride ourselves on giving our guests the warmest of welcomes and strive to provide everything to make their stay memorable for all the right reasons. On arrival, you’ll find a welcome pack of ‘essentials’ – tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits – to refuel you after your journey. We aim to create your best-ever break – hopefully you’ll be booking to return before you’ve even left!
About us and our working farm
Our cabin retreats are set within our 90-acre working beef and sheep farm. Pant Farm is run by the third generation of our family – Karen and Bryan and two sons, George and Josh.
Having previously been dairy, early years at Pant Farm saw a milk round supplying the local area via a 3-wheeler bike. Milk was taken in a churn on a trailer and households would bring their jugs to be filled twice a day as there were no fridges back then!
Nowadays, depending on the time of year, the fields surrounding the lodges may be filled with animals. There’s usually someone to say “Good Morning” to, be it ewes and their lambs, cows and calves, goats, horses – or even our gorgeous but greedy peacock Colin!
As we are a working farm, we are extra busy with activities like lambing or shearing in certain months. If we are engaged in one of these tasks, you’re more than welcome to watch or even help out – our smaller guests especially love to get involved!
Relaxing log cabin holidays in Wales
If pure relaxation is your goal, peace and tranquillity are guaranteed – the only noise is the sound of birdsong and the murmur of Bechan Brook.
All of our holiday lodges with hot tubs have been designed and furnished to the highest standards. Hot tubs set on glass-enclosed decks provide the perfect vantage point to take in the view of the valley at sunset or soak up the peace on a starry night.
Pant Farm also has an old woodland which guests can walk but be prepared for some steep slopes – it’s a good workout! Paths have also been created through the new woodland where 11,000 hardwood trees were planted in 2010. Since we are only 2.5 miles away from popular Newtown, it is possible to walk via our wood to the nearby footpath. This leads to the canal path to Newtown – very little road walking is needed to get to local cafes, shops and pubs. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes as it can be muddy!
Wildlife lovers will be in their element. Keep your eyes peeled for woodpeckers, foxes, badgers and much more. The variety of birds is also vast – you’ll glimpse the red kites gliding on the thermals in the afternoon.
If you’re looking for a little more activity on your break, we are perfectly placed to explore the stunning Welsh countryside, nature reserves, rugged coast and mountains. We’re just 2.5 miles from the bustling market town of Newtown and have the races, castles and stately homes less than an hour away.
Cosy log cabin breaks
Our first two lodges- Barn Owl Lodge and Kite’s Nest – were completed in 2019. With exclusive use of fabulous Marquis hot tubs, they are perfect for romantic breaks or trips with friends or family.
We added a further two log cabins with hot tubs in 2022. The Kingfisher and The Woodpecker boast stunning views, comfy furnishings and private parking. They are equipped with everything you need for a rural getaway. You’ll enjoy elevated balconies above the brook, large patios with fire pits and – of course – the hot tubs. A large wildflower paddock sits below the two newer cabins with tables, a fire pit and access for paddling in the brook.
Dog-friendly rural retreats
Knowing how important our canine companions are, all our accommodation is dog-friendly. With your perfect break in mind, we welcome well-behaved dogs as it’s lovely to have them along for your rural retreat.
During your stay, please feel free to walk your dog around Pant Wood which is within our farm. We also have an enclosed paddock – next to Kingfisher and Woodpecker – which is ideal for safe, off-lead frolics. However, we ask that guests keep their dogs on leads when moving around our working farm. This is due to heavy machinery and tractor movements as well as livestock – especially important during lambing season.
Water bowls are provided at each Lodge for your canine friends to quench their thirst.
